Flag Raising Ceremony at ADNOC Technical Institute ADNOC CEO visits to ATI Blood Donation Programme Certificate Distribution ATI Students at Schlumberger Abu Dhabi Police visited ATI to inform students about good citizenship, road safety issues and correct observance of the law ATI students engage in practical learning on the ADMA Pilot Training Plants All students in the ATI Technical programme take a six–week practical course in the four new pilot plants: the wellhead, the oil processing plant, the gas dehydration plant and the gas sweetening plant. Hands-on, practical learning forms the basis of instruction at ATI.

The Basic English Programme aims to upgrade language proficiency to the point where students have the skills required to begin studies in the ATI Foundation Programme. Though students will have been previously exposed to English language study, this programme will start from a very basic level. Students will take an exit test at the end of the programme to determine eligibility for admission to the Foundation Programme.

The Basic English Programme is divided into three courses: Reading, Writing and Integrated Skills. There is a strong focus on vocabulary building and basic grammatical competence as well as communication skills, both oral and written.

The programme also includes instruction in mathematics and Arabic and Islamic Studies.

There are three levels of instruction in the Foundation Programme. Each level has three courses of English as well as courses in Mathematics, Arabic and Islamic Studies. You will study reading, writing and communication skills. English Lab classes take place in computer labs where you develop your language skills while learning basic computer skills. In the third semester of the Foundation Programme you will also take a Science course.

43 Most students will spend three terms studying in the Foundation Programme. You will pass from one level to the next if you do all the course work and pass the end-of-term exams. If not, you will have to repeat the whole term, which will hold you back. So it is very important that you attend all your language classes and complete all your study assignments in the first three or four terms at ATI. Without a good level of English you will not be able to understand your technical subjects and you will not be able to work in the oil and gas industry.

FOUNDATION SCIENCE

This programme trains students in the skills required to work as an operator in a process plant in the oil and gas industry. Students are fully familiarized with the various physical components, processes and procedures associated with the plant, using a hands-on approach to learning. Process variables (pressure, temperature, level and flow) are studied in detail, along with the instrumentation used to measure them. The programme provides practical instruction on a DCS simulator as well as in the five available training plants. There is a strong HSE component of the programme to ensure students are fully aware of the hazards present in the industry and how to minimize them. Science, Technical English and Arabic/Islamic studies are also included in the curriculum.

This programme trains students in the mechanical skills involved in plant maintenance in the context of the oil and gas industry. Students work on the maintenance of oilfield related equipment in a practical, hands-on context in workshops. They are trained in the maintenance of pumps, compressors, piping systems and valves as well as engines, gas turbines and other prime movers. A thorough knowledge of safety procedures is also emphasized throughout of the programme. Studies are complemented by Technical English courses, Mathematics, Science and Arabic/Islamic studies.

This programme trains students in the electrical skills involved in all electrical works in oil & gas plants. Students are trained to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. They can diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Before being graduated students are able to inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. They can test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety of electrical systems.
