ATI is an approved SQA Assessment Centre an internationally recognised awarding body based in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2008 ATI entered into a joint award scheme partnership with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to offer customised awards in its Technical Programme. These awards are externally verified by the SQA.
Currently, the three Engineering Technical Programmes and the Process Operator (Oil and Gas) Programme are verified by the SQA as customised joint awards. Students graduating from these programmes receive an internationally validated and accredited diploma along with an ATI/SQA transcript detailing all the instructional units completed.
ATI also trains Assessors and Internal Verifiers using SQA accredited training modules delivered on ATI premises by experienced instructors. These trained verifiers work closely with the SQA to ensure that the required quality assurance measures are applied to all aspects of the ATI instructional programme and the associated assessment evidence.
SQA conducts external verification procedures at ATI once every two years.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ATI and
Schlumberger MLC was signed on the 28th
November 2010 and is in line with ADNOC’s policy to broaden and diversify its training
programs to meet ADNOC OPCO’s requirements.
Training is provided by Schlumberger to all students within the Semester 3 Process Operations
Programme to complement the Petroleum Industry Overview Course taken at ATI,
providing a valuable insight into the well site services and allowing students to gain
hands-on experience with some of the equipment used in the field. Students also learn
about HSE Risk Analysis and work in groups to carry out their own Risk Analysis, which
is presented to their peers. A certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete
the training course.
ATI is a Cambridge University approved testing centre. A memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University and ATI in 2011. A number of Cambridge University English examinations can be administered at the Institute.
Regular ATI students take the following tests:
The PET is and the KET are internationally recognized English Tests. They are produced by Cambridge English Language Assessment in England. They are certificates of English proficiency which can be used anywhere in the world. It is important that all ATI students take the PET exam at the correct time during their studies. Students at a lower level can also take the KET.
At the end of Level Three in the Foundation Programme students will take the PET exam. Students who do not pass the PET will be expected to take the test again during Semester 4 of the Technical Programme.
Results arrive about four weeks after taking the test. They will be delivered to ATI.
Results can also be retrieved online by visiting the Cambridge ESOL website.
Council of Europe B1 level
There are six levels of language proficiency recognized by the Council of Europe. B1 level is the third level. If a student wants to study in Europe the B1 level is recognized as adequate. It is also recognized by ADNOC and by other companies and educational institutions in the UAE and all over the Gulf. The PET is a B1 level test, so fully meets ADNOC’s requirements.
The Cambridge exams are recognized all over the world. The KET and PET certificates are important additions to the qualification from ATI.
Language Testing for ADNOC Group and Employees
ATI is authorised to provide a variety of English Language Examinations to employees of the ADNOC Group Companies. As well as the PET and the KET, these tests include:
These examinations can be administered at ATI in the Assessment Centre, or on-site on the premises of any of the ADNOC Group Companies.
